Semalulukut means Hummingbird in the Uto-Aztecan Yaqui language. I am a Mexican, Yaqui, American dreamer on a journey to spread love, happiness, and hope. I love to bake, cook, and create. I share my world, my recipes, along with all of my other creations, how to entertain on a budget, and just how to get the best of out life. I believe no decision is the wrong decision, we are where we're meant to be, so be happy, and find a reason to smile like a Semalulukut always does :)

No Decision Is the Wrong Decision
This was the creation that changed everything, since it was my first order, and the birth of my Abuelita Chocolate frosting. It was for Karla's baby shower for baby Xander. The yellow cake pops are yellow cake with Abuelita Chocolate frosting filling, and the blue ones are chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. I didn't have my BabyCakes Cake Pop Maker yet so I made them from scratch the "old school" way. Janette bought me Bakerella's Cake Pop book and it made them look so easy, that I was confident when she asked me to make some for the baby shower. Up to that point baking was just something I did for fun, and only for family, friends, co-workers, and my students. Which meant they cared about my feelings so they had to tell me they liked my baking even if they didn't. I am very critical of everything I do, so having my baking, or cooking being tasted, and judged by people who don't have to be nice still makes me nervous. But I was very proud of the outcome with this order. "Old school" cake pops are a lot more time consuming than using the cake pop maker, and they're a lot sweeter since you have to use frosting to keep the cake crumbs together. Bakerella's book is awesome, and it has really cute and easy ideas. But for some reason I decided to go simple by using colored sugar pearls, and chocolate drizzled on top. They were yummy and everyone enjoyed them and that's what matters. After that I realized how much I enjoy baking and cooking, and how rewarding it is to share my creations with others and have them enjoy it. Everything I make with my hands is a part of my soul I'm sharing with others, to show them a glimpse of how I see the world, a view into the mind of a Yaqui hummingbird dreamer :)
